Claims top prize on All Cash No Taxes game
Listening to your wife can pay off in many ways, especially when it comes to buying Maryland Lottery scratch-offs! A 50-year-old Hagerstown man who got a brief phone call from his wife requesting such a purchase followed directions and stopped at his local Sheetz to buy several scratch-offs before going home.
His choice of game? The $5 All Cash No Taxes! scratch-off, which delivers a $50,000 top prize with taxes paid. The husband bought several of the red, white and blue scratch-offs so the couple could play the Lottery games together after dinner. Married for more than two decades, their after-dinner routine occasionally includes playing Lottery scratch-offs.
To their surprise, the size of the win was far from routine. They were $50,000 richer!
“We usually win about $50 or so,” the husband said. “Never did we think we’d be driving to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim $50,000 after spending just $5 on the ticket.”
The parents of three sons were stunned over their big win.
“It was very surprising to us because we kept seeing $5,000 amounts pop up on the ticket as we were scratching it,” the happy husband said. “At first, we thought this can’t be right so my wife scanned the winning ticket through the Lottery app she has on her phone and now, here we are.”
The last time the Washington County couple got this excited was when they won a $500 scratch-off prize about five years ago. “We were excited then but now we’re just overjoyed,” he said. “We’ve never won anything remotely this big and, with this ticket, the taxes are paid on it. You can’t beat that.”
The excited pair said they might treat the family to a nice vacation in Florida, pay bills and celebrate their upcoming wedding anniversary.
Also with a winner is the lucky retailer. For selling a top-prize scratch-off in the game, Sheetz #184 located at 12404 Lager Avenue in Hagerstown will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
The All Cash No Taxes! game debuted in December and still has plenty of prizes remaining. Players can search for the game’s five unclaimed $50,000 top prizes and thousands of others ranging from $5 to $5,000.
